    Kerala Latest News : The Kerala woman in the case of dowry harassment that has gripped national attention died by hanging, autopsy reports revealed. The Sooranadu police have arrested of Kiran Kumar, husband of Vismaya whose body was found at his home in Sasthamcotta on Monday. Still Vismaya Nair’s death was a murder or suicide has not been ascertained yet.

    Very often cases of marital discord and domestic violence spring from dowry-related issues. In some cases, there will not be any physical violence but women has been emotionally abused. The same incident happened in Kerala for a 22-year-old was found dead on June 21, days after complaining of physical assault by her husband.

    Vismaya Nair was a final year Bachelors student of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery student. A few days before her death, she had sent photos of injuries on her body to a cousin, alleging domestic violence. Her family revealed shocking details of marital abuse she faced since marrying Kiran, an assistant motor vehicle inspector in 2020, over dowry harassment. 

    Vismaya Nair family had given 1.5 acre land, 1 kg gold, and a car as dowry. Kiran was reportedly unhappy with the car he had received as dowry and demanded cash in exchange for it. But Vismaya's father told that they do not have that much money then. 

    Kiran had been assaulting his wife Vismaya both mentally and physically. He hit her so badly in the face that her mouth was bleeding. Vismaya sent the pictures of her wounded body parts to one of her cousin brother.

    Meanwhile, Visamaya’s family has come up with a serious allegation that she was murdered. According to her father, the bruises and marks in her body point to homicide, not suicide. Vismaya’s father and brother alleged that her husband had murdered her. They also demanded that Kirankumar’s sister and brother-in-law be also booked in the case, as they were equally involved in harassing Vismaya Nair.

    An officer with the state transport department, Kiran has reportedly been suspended from service following his involvement in the case. He has been slapped with charges under Sections 498A (subjecting a woman to cruelty for dowry) and 304B (dowry death) of the Indian Penal Code. According to police officers, more sections will be charged against him after getting the autopsy report.
